April 16-24

All students will be taking FCAT reading and math this week.  Eighth grade students will be taking the science FCAT on Monday, April 23rd. 

In addition to FCAT, all reading students will be completing their final fluency assessments this week and next.  Students will write their results in their planners.  The goal for all students is 147 words per minute.

Progress reports will be sent home during the week of April 30th.

Welcome back!

We are now in the last quarter of the school year!  Edge 6 students (2nd & 3rd periods) will be reading Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry. Edge 5 students (4th period) will be reading Maniac Magee.  Edge 7 students (5th & 6th periods) will be reading 145th Street Short Stories.

FCAT will begin on Monday, April 16th!

3rd Period

Vocabulary charts are due tomorrow (February 8th)!  They are homework for students who did not complete them in class!

HOMEWORK

3rd Period:
Students need to complete TTQ #4 and vocabulary for Cycle 2, Day 4.  There will be a test tomorrow.

6th Period:
Students need to complete their friendly letters either accepting or rejecting their assigned job.

Literacy Night

All reading students were given invitations to Literacy Night, which will be held next Thursday, Frbruary 9th from 5:45-8:00 PM.  Please fill out the forms and return them to school with your child.

Week of January 9-13

Happy New Year & welcome to the third nine weeks of the 2011-2012 school year!

3rd Period:
We will begin reading Baseball in April and Other Short Stories by Gary Soto.

4th/5th Periods:
We will begin reading The Library Card by Jerry Spinelli.

6th Period:
We will beging reading The Giver by Lois Lowry.

Definition maps are due Tuesday, January 10th for all Edge classes.

Exam Week

Friday, December 16th will begin exam week.  Reading classes will not be taking exams.  All students will need to bring back permission slips in order to watch movies in class.  Third period has already done this.

3rd Period: Characterization projects are due on Tuesday.  Students will have two days in class to complete this assignment.  However, if they do not finish in class they may complete it at home.

Students will be released at 1:50 next Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
